Antarctic Poem #2: Sight

Sight

Today
I indirectly looked
God in the eye.

I stared for the longest time.

Even
as I sat
in the presence of profound
and indescribable beauty –

Stuck between the white clouded top and
snowy landscaped bottom lids of God’s eye,

I need something
outside of myself to blame.

For how else could I explain to
my heart the absence of knowing in yours.

The brilliant blue sky of this eye
with its burning hot sun-white pupil
took on that blame without blinking.

Our guilt and sickened stomachs
will soon heal, along with the
aching of our chests.

We will once again go blind,

until we choose to have vision.
